Initially very hard to think of a subject for my first piece, I just thought 'what do I like?'. What immediately came to mind (most likely because I had one infront of me) was a lovely cup of tea. So I grabbed my camera, I wanted to keep the focal point very clear and realistic, and took a simple photograph of the mug I was drinking out of.
What came next I cannot explain. All the extra bits on the piece just 'came', I didn't plan any of it and the explanation for it would be limited. However, in saying that, the scraggy and unevenly drawn hand represents all that we are told is bad. I'm certain that i've read somewhere that tea causes cancer (amongst everything else) so I couldn't just produce a completely joyful piece. Opposing that, the smile represents quite clearly the enjoyment that we gain from a lovely cuppa. Enjoy.
